Diabetic foot treatment

Opening of blocked arteries in diabetic foot ulcers

Diabetic foot are wounds that occur in diabetics and do not heal for a long time. These ulcers can be caused by damage to the nerve endings in the foot or damage to the veins in the foot.

It is important to check for blockage in the leg veins in patients with diabetic foot ulcers. For this, color doppler examination and angiography are suitable. If there is vascular involvement, it is not possible to heal the wound without eliminating these lesions.

Balloon and stent procedures performed directly from the skin (percutaneously) with invasive radiological techniques have some advantages over surgical techniques:

  • The duration of hospital stay is short
  • There are no major surgical scars formed during the operation
  • Interventions do not require general anesthesia
  • The financial value is lower;
  • Less risky;
  • The results are the same or better than surgery;
  • Another important advantage is that the same treatment method can be applied again
